This is a cleaved halite crystal of stunning transparency from the Bakhmut salt mines in Ukraine. The scale of the Bakhmut salt mines is enormous with tunnels more than 200km. They were formed about 300 million years ago during the evaporation of ancient seas. The mines are now controlled by Russia since the Battle of Soledar.
