Haliotis discus, common name the “disk abalone” or “Edo abalone”, is a sepcies of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Haliotidae, the abalones. In China, the subspecies H. d. hannai is widely cultured for food and this one was obtained from aquaculture. It is said that the color zoning on the surface is associated with the food that they were fed on.
