NOTE: According to the local literatures of Japan, this species should be “ツノテツレイシ”, which corresponds to a Latin name, Mancinella hippocastanum (Linnaeus, 1758). However, Mancinella hippocastanum is not an acceptable name anymore. WoRMS suggests that Mancinella hippocastanum is a synonym of Volema myristica (Röding, 1798) (on 2022/7), which is a Melongenidae species. However, there is no doubt that it is a Muricidae species and could be classified into the genus Tylothais. This species should be the same species as Tylothais aculeata (Deshayes, 1844). Hence, I use the name Tylothais cf. aculeata (Deshayes, 1844) for this specimen.
